Network Knowledge Base

Everything you need to know about how the internet connects you to the world.

What is a Dual-Stack Network?

The internet is currently undergoing a massive upgrade. For decades, we used IPv4 (Internet Protocol version 4), which looks like 192.168.1.1. The problem? We ran out of addresses.

The solution is IPv6, a new system with an infinite number of addresses (e.g., 2001:0db8:85a3...). A "Dual-Stack" network means your computer allows both protocols to run at the same time. This is the gold standard for modern internet connections.

Why is my IP Location wrong?

Many users panic when they see their IP location is in a different city. This is normal.

IP Geolocation is not GPS. It does not know your street address. Instead, it looks up where your Internet Service Provider (ISP) has registered that block of IP addresses. Often, an ISP will register all their IPs in a central hub city (like London or New York), even if you live 50 miles away in a suburb.

Does my IP Address reveal my identity?

Your IP address is like your car's license plate. It is public information that every website you visit can see. However, it does not reveal your name, phone number, or exact home address to the public.

Only your ISP knows exactly who was using a specific IP address at a specific time. They will only reveal this information if compelled by a court order.

What is a PWA (Progressive Web App)?

365-IP is built as a PWA. This technology bridges the gap between a website and a mobile app. By using a "Service Worker" script, our tool saves its layout and images to your phone's storage.

This means you can open 365-IP even when you are in a tunnel or on an airplane with no signal, and the app will still load instantly.

Real-Time Global Cyber Attacks

The internet is a battlefield. Every second, thousands of automated bots and malicious actors are scanning IP addresses for vulnerabilities. This is often visible in the form of DDoS attacks (Distributed Denial of Service), where millions of infected computers attack a single target to knock it offline.

Your IP address is your first line of defense. Keeping your firewall active and using modern protocols like IPv6 helps mitigate some of these automated scanning risks.
